When the BJP government has made strict laws to curb the menace of loansharks, it comes as an unpleasant surprise that the kin of a corporator hailing from this party is found harassing a businessman by engaging in shady business and threatening to kill.
Ankit Dave, son of BJP corporator from Vitratnagar area Raju Dave, and another interest extortionist have been booked and arrested for allegedly extorting exorbitant interest and threatening to kill a businessman in Nikol area of Ahmedabad. The accused used their proximity to the ruling party politician for carrying on their illegal activity.
A businessman in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area has filed a complaint against Ankit Dave, son of Viratnagar BJP corporator Rajubhai Dave, and a person named Giriraj Singh. Suthar said in his FIR that he had taken a loan of Rs 6.5 lakh on 10% monthly interest, 4 years ago. He shared that he had met Dave through his friend Jhala. Suthar claims to have paid the amount payable, bit by bit. He said he had given 3 cheques of a private bank and paid interest for 18 months. He also said he paid 4.50 lakh in July and another 2 lakh in the same month. Despite paying the amount along with interest, he was asked for 15.47 lakh in interest by Jhala. He was threatened as Jhala claimed to be proximate to politicians and Dave claimed to be the son of a BJP corporator from Odhav, Raju Dave
Girirajsingh reached the businessman’s house and demanded money, He said that Ankit Dave has sent him. He threatened the businessman brandishing his political clout. Girirajsinh also threatened the wife of the complainant that they will use the cheques in their possession for depositing in the bank and harassing them by cases of cheques returned.
Nikol police have registered a complaint against Ankit Dave and Giriraj Singh and arrested both of them based on the complaint of the businessman.
