Indians who have obtained a degree from a renowned foreign university will now be able to apply for government jobs in Bihar. Earlier there was a rule that was preventing them from doing the same, but now the government has made the required amendments to see that it’s not a hindrance.
In order to achieve this, the State education department had seeked views about the validity of foreign degrees owned by these applicants, from the General Administration Department. They had specially considered the applicants who had studied at Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University of Nepal.
The new rule says that applicants who have given Intermediate, senior secondary, higher secondary examinations of the approved boards in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal through regular mode, will now be eligible for jobs says Deepak Kumar Singh, who is the additional chief secretary in Education.
In short, the GAD communicated that any Indian citizen including a citizen from Bihar, who has a valid degree from a notable foreign university, will be allowed to seek a government job in Bihar. Department officials say that a press release or a journal notification of the same shall be released soon.
This is not the first time that the government has issued a notice of such kind, as in 2015, a similar rule was passed that any Bihar citizen possessing a MBBS degree from a foreign country is eligible for seeking a job in the State’s government hospitals and medical colleges
As of now, diplomas or qualifications obtained through online or distance education mode are not approved for the same by the Association of Indian Universities. Sources reveal that degrees from only those foreign universities will be accepted; those have been recognized by legitimate authorities of the respective country, besides AIU itself.
