The Gujarat government has carried out a major reshuffling and promotion of IPS/SPS officers in the state. Seventy officers have been transferred to new positions and some have been promoted to higher ranks.
GS Malik has been appointed the new Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, Anupam Singh Gahlaut has once again been appointed as the Police Commissioner of Vadodara.
The rejig has purportedly been done to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the police force, ensuring public safety, and maintaining law and order across various regions in the state.
Vadodara Commissioner of Police Dr Shamsher Singh has been transferred and appointed to the ex-cadre post of Director General of Police (Law and Order) in Gandhinagar. This promotion comes with the upgrading of the cadre post from Additional Director General (ADG) of Police Grade to Director General of Police (DGP) Grade replacing Narasimha N Komar, who has been transferred to another position.
Gyanender Singh Malik, ADG will now be the Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad City. This transfer involves the downgrading of the ex-cadre post in DGP Grade to a cadre post in ADG Grade.
Director of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards in Ahmedabad Dr Neeraj Gotru has been transferred and appointed to the vacant cadre post of ADG (Training) in Gandhinagar. In this case, the ex-cadre post of DGP (Training) has been downgraded to a cadre post in ADG (Training).
RB Brahmbhatt, ADG CID (Crime & Railways) in Gandhinagar is now transferred and assigned to the cadre post of ADG for CID (Intelligence) Gandhinagar, replacing Anupam Singh Gahlaut.
Narasimha N Komar will hold additional responsibilities as he takes on the vacant post of ADG (Inquiry) and ADG (Armed Unit) both in Gandhinagar.
Dr S Pandia Rajkumar, previously ADG Railways in Ahmedabad, will now take up the cadre post of ADG for CID (Crime & Railways) in Gandhinagar, replacing RB Brahmbhatt.
Piyush Purusottamdas Patel , ADG Surat range is assigned to wait for further posting instructions.
Brajesh Kumar Jha, Inspector General (IG) of Police, Administration in Gandhinagar will now be Joint Commissioner of Police in Sector-2, Ahmedabad replacing MS Bharada. Bharada, has been transferred to the ex-cadre post of IG (Intelligence-1) in Gandhinagar, replacing Wabang Jamir.
Jamir, is transferred to the cadre post of Joint Commissioner of Police in Sector-1, Surat City. This move involves the upgrading of the ex-cadre post of Additional Commissioner of Police in Sector-1, Surat City, to a cadre post of Joint Commissioner of Police, replacing PL Mal. Mal is transferred and appointed to the cadre post of DIG for Coastal Security in Ahmedabad replacing Nilesh Bhikhabhai Jajadia. He will hold the additional charge of DIG for Coastal Security and Intelligence in Ahmedabad.
Abhay Chudasama, IG, Gandhinagar Range will now take on the cadre post of Principal at the State Police Academy in Karai, Gandhinagar. This appointment comes with the upgrading of the ex-cadre post in DIG Police Grade to a cadre post in IG Police Grade, replacing AG Chauhan.
V Chandrasekar, IG, Ahmedabad Range is transferred as IG Surat Range. This transfer involves the downgrading of the ex-cadre post in ADG Grade to a cadre post in IG, replacing Piyush Purusottamdas Patel.
MA Chavada, IG, Junagadh Range will now take on the vacant ex-cadre post of Executive Director (Vigilance) at GSRTC, Ahmedabad.
DH Parmar, Joint Commissioner of Police for Traffic in Surat City is transferred and appointed to the vacant ex-cadre post of IG (Armed Unit) in Vadodara. This transfer involves the upgrading of the ex-cadre post of DIG (Armed Unit) to an ex-cadre post of IG (Armed Unit).
