In response to severe rainfall affecting South Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has swiftly mobilised state resources on Sunday.
Following a series of telephonic conversations with district Collectors from the affected areas, the Chief Minister has ordered the evacuation of residents from low-lying zones and stressed the importance of protecting livestock.
The heavy downpours have impacted several districts, including Valsad, Tapi, Navsari, Surat, Narmada and Panchmahal. To address the emergency, he has assured that teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are available to provide necessary assistance.
The State Emergency Operation Centre has reported that Sagbara taluka in Narmada district received 64 mm of rainfall between 6 AM and 8 AM today. Vapi in Valsad district recorded the highest rainfall over the past 24 hours, with a total of 326 mm.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely and are working to mitigate the effects of the heavy rain on local communities.
