Rajkot: The Special Operations Group (SOG) apprehended individuals in possession of 91.8 grams of mephedrone, valued Rs. 9 lakh on the Bhavnagar-Ahmedabad highway during Sunday night.
Harshad Patel, Superintendent of Police in Bhavnagar, stated that the police received specific intelligence regarding a man named Taufiq Mansuri (34), suspected of transporting the drug in a vehicle. SOG operatives intercepted the car on the highway and discovered mephedrone concealed beneath the dashboard.
The authorities arrested Taufiq Mansuri, Ejaz Mansuri (28), Alfaz Gori (25), and Hussain, also known as Tiger Kaliwala (29), all residents of Bhavnagar. They have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by the Velavadar Bhal police.
Mansuri had acquired the drugs from Mumbai with the intention of selling them in Bhavnagar. Investigations are underway to identify Mansuri’s clients within the city.
