Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today said that Punjab health minister Vijay Singla has been sacked from the state cabinet over corruption charges. The CM Office said that Singla was demanding 1% commission from officials for contracts. The statement also assured that the decision was taken only because concrete evidence was found against Singla in the matter.
Mann in a video address said, “AAP is an honest party. Our government can’t tolerate corruption of even Re 1. I have seen this hope in the eyes of people – during my visits across the state – that they were waiting for somebody to take them out of swamps of corruption. When the CM face had to be announced for Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal had made his anti-corruption goal clear to me.”
Furthermore, Mann applauded Kejriwal’s determination and said that he had promised to stand true by the Aam Aadmi Party’s ideals. Hence he had taken strict actions against Vijay Singla, and would continue to do so in the future.
Mann said in his Twitter post, “AAP was born to establish an honest system. Arvind Kejriwal has always said that we will not tolerate corruption whether one is his or the other. Immediately after getting the evidence of corruption against the health minister, ordered for FIR.”
Kejriwal responded to Mann’s actions, expressing that such decisions were really what makes the party proud. He said, “Proud of you Bhagwant. Ur action has brought tears to my eyes. Whole nation today feels proud of AAP.”
This is not the first time that AAP has taken such an action against the minister involved in corruption and scams. In 2015, Kejriwal himself had sacked his food supplies minister and gave the case to the CBI.
