Suchana Seth, the 39-year-old CEO of a Bengaluru-based AI company who was arrested for allegedly murdering her four-year-old son in Goa, was a data science expert and activist. She was passionate about eliminating the gender gap in data science and led workshops with international non-profit organizations like Women Who Code. She was also a Mozilla Open Web Fellow at Data & Society, where she studied ethical machine learning and AI in the industry. Her interests included auditing algorithms for fairness, accountability and transparency, monetizing AI ethically, and the regulatory landscape for predictive algorithms.
Police said that Seth killed her son to prevent her ex-husband from meeting him. She fled in a cab with her son’s body stuffed in a bag and was arrested in Karnataka. She has been taken to Goa for further investigation.
