In an unusual turn of events, a resident of Bengaluru made headlines by placing an order for a whopping 62 servings of biryani through the popular online food delivery platform, Swiggy, coinciding with the high-stakes India-Pakistan Asia Cup clash in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Swiggy took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express its intrigue, pondering whether the individual behind this mammoth order was perhaps hosting a grand India-Pakistan match watch party. In their tweet, Swiggy playfully inquired, “Someone from Bengaluru just ordered 62 units of biryanis?? who are you? where exactly are you? are you hosting a #INDvsPAK match watch-party?? can I come?”
As soon as Swiggy shared this tweet, the online community enthusiastically engaged with the post. Many users couldn’t help but wonder about the identity of the mysterious biryani enthusiast, while others seized the opportunity to ask a pressing question – could they receive free food if India emerged victorious against Pakistan? One user cheekily wrote, “If India win you send me free food swiggy done??”
However, the much-anticipated India-Pakistan group-stage encounter, staged at Kandy’s Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, ultimately had an anticlimactic ending, as it was called off due to persistent rain. India’s performance in the match got off to a rocky start, with the top-order batsmen managing to contribute just 66 runs in the initial 15 overs. Nevertheless, a remarkable partnership between Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) saw India recover impressively, posting a total of 266 runs in 48.5 overs.
Looking ahead, India is set to face Nepal at the same venue on Monday, eager to put up a strong performance in their upcoming match.
