NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu will be conducting a beach cleaning drive at Madhavpur Beach Porbandar On April 16, 2022, as part of Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, this drive is getting conducted right after the conclusion of the Madhavpur Cultural fair. It will be conducted by NCC HQ Jamnagar under the guidance of NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu will do beach cleaning at the Beach. Madhavpur is one of the most popular and treasured beaches in Gujarat, it is famous for its long coastal route.
This drive will be overseen by Major General Arvind Kapoor, Additional Director General NCC Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu at 0830 hrs on 16 April 2022. Dignitaries such as SDM Porbandar, SP Porbandar, representatives of Municipal Corporation Porbandar, and Sarpanch of adopted Village Dharampura will be gracing the drive with their presence at Madhavpur beach along with 200 Cadets, 05 Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), 10 PI Staff, 30 NCC Alumni members.
In conjunction with the drive, NCC is undertaking a nationwide campaign to rid seashores and beaches of plastic and other litter and to educate the public about the importance of keeping these areas clean. Puneet Sagar Abhiyan aims to promote the message of ‘Importance of Clean Seashores/Beaches’ amongst the local population. The initial phase of the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan 2022 was conducted grandly with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm by NCC Cadets of Gujarat between April 01 and 05, 2022, coinciding with the National Maritime Day.
The waste collected by the cadets will be handed over to Municipal Corporation Porbandar for further disposal and recycling.
