The Barry Callebaut Group, largest manufacturer of premium chocolate and cocoa products worldwide, announced that its third manufacturing facility will be built in Rajasthan. The brand-new compound and chocolate factory is located in the Ghiloth industrial district of Neemrana, about 120 kilometers southwest of Delhi.
After the new chocolate factory is finished, India will surpass other countries in the Asia Pacific region in terms of chocolate production for Barry Callebaut. With this announcement, Barry Callebaut is expected to have invested more than CHF 50 million in India over the previous five years.
As a leader in the global chocolate industry, Jo Thys, President of Barry Callebaut in Asia Pacific, stated that “India is a key market for Barry Callebaut in Region Asia Pacific.” Being the market leader for premium chocolate and cocoa products is our goal in India.
India is one of the chocolate markets with the fastest growth rates in the world, according to Dhruva Jyoti Sanyal, managing director of Barry Callebaut India. We have made significant investments in local manufacturing and sales capacities over the years, which puts us in a strong position going forward. The new factory will serve as a hub for the north, bring us closer to customers, and give us chances to market our premium goods and cutting-edge innovations.
The 20,000 m2 brand-new greenfield facility in Neemarana is expected to be fully operational in 2024. The brand-new chocolate factory will have cutting-edge assembly lines that can make chocolate and compound in a variety of delivery formats to meet the demands of its clients, who include global food manufacturers, regional confectioneries, and semi-industrial bakeries and patisseries. A research and development lab and a warehouse will also be included in the new building.
