Controversy erupted in Bahauddin College, Junagadh, as the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) claimed that the college management was favouring one student body over another.
The protests centred around the student body ABVP allegedly conducting a private programme within the college premises, while approval sought for a similar programme to be conducted by the NSUI was allegedly turned down by the college principal
Junagadh NSUI has accused the principal of Bahauddin College of favouritism, claiming that the ABVP frequently conducts such private programmes on campus, which are even attended by the principal and other staff of the institution. NSUI members have threatened stronger protests, seeking ‘action’ on behalf of the college authorities.
Denying that any such private event was ever permitted on campus, the principal of Bahauddin College said that appropriate action will be taken against any students or staff responsible if it is found out that private programmes were held inside the college.
