In a surprising turn of events during his concert at Parul University in Vadodara, rapper Badshah took the stage to show his support for comedian Samay Raina, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding ‘India’s Got Latent’. The rapper shouted, “Free Samay Raina,” a statement that immediately caught the attention of the crowd and social media alike.
This comes in the wake of a backlash following inappropriate comments made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia during a recent episode of the show. After the backlash, multiple FIRs were filed against Ranveer, Raina and others involved.
During the concert, as Badshah was wrapping up his performance, he took a moment to thank the audience and expressed his support for Raina. “I love you Parul University. Thank you so much. Free Samay Raina,” he said, prompting loud cheers from the crowd.
The rapper’s shout-out quickly went viral on social media platforms, adding to the ongoing discussion surrounding the controversy.
Badshah, who had previously appeared as a guest on an episode of India’s Got Latent, stood in solidarity with Raina.
The episode, which also included influencers Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani and Jaspreet Singh, was criticised for inappropriate remarks, prompting Raina to remove all videos from his YouTube channel.
In response to the backlash, Samay Raina issued a statement expressing his distress over the situation. “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you (sic),” he wrote.
The Mumbai police have summoned both Ranveer and Raina to record their statements as part of the investigation into the matter.
