In order to assist with the investigation into the murder of prominent NCP leader Baba Siddique, a team from the Delhi police’s Special Cell is set to be sent to Mumbai on Sunday.
On Saturday night, the 66-year-old was shot at by three men in Kher Nagar, in the Bandra district of Mumbai, just outside the office of his son Zeeshan Siddique, who is an MLA.
After being brought to a hospital, the former minister was declared dead.
“A team comprising four to five members from the Special Cell will go to Mumbai to investigate and assist the Mumbai police. The team will look into the gangster angle,” the media reports said.
The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police stated that it has begun an investigation into the murder from many angles, such as potential contract killings, business rivalries, or threats regarding a slum redevelopment project.
