Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a new batch of coins on Monday that are ‘visually challenged friendly.’ The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) design will appear on coins in the denominations of Re 1, Rs 2, 5, 10, and 20. These coins are not commemorative and will be circulated.
“These new series of coins will remind people of the objective of amrit kal and urge them to work towards the country’s growth,” Modi remarked during the Ministry of Finance’s iconic week celebration.
PM Modi also unveiled the ‘Jan Samarth portal,’ a credit-linked portal with information on 12 government initiatives.
Each of these programmes, according to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will be featured on the platform. “This site will make it simple for citizens to access government programmes without having to ask the same questions over and again.”
