Preparations are in full swing as Gujarat’s capital city Gandhinagar is about to host the 12th edition of Defence-Expo for the first time. The DefExpo-2022 is supposed to happen between March 10-14, but there are already clouds of uncertainty over participants as the Russia- Ukraine war has put many international events on hold.
Recently, India pulled out of the International ‘Cobra War’ in the UK, citing recent events. The third wave of covid had put brakes on the tenth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit.
Russian and Ukrainian Defense Ministers were to attend the DefExpo, but the invasion of Ukraine by Russia has put a question mark over their participation. Nevertheless, preparations for this year’s event are in full swing as Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a review meeting.
About The DefExpo-2022:
According to the sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the DefExpo on 11th March, which will have an exhibition of Land, Naval and Homeland security systems at Gandhinagar. Mahatma Mandir will host one-to-one meetings between defence majors and the Government, whereas Helipad Ground Gandhinagar will witness state-of-the-art defence systems. In addition, a demonstration event will be held at the Sabarmati riverfront. This defence expo will be Asia’s largest defence exhibition.
More than 60 countries are invited to the defence event. The event will see 1500 plus delegates participating in the event. The Prime Minister of Russia was about to visit with a delegation as Russia is India’s major defence partner. In contrast, a delegation from Ukraine was also invited to the event. However, the current situation between the two countries has put a question mark over their participation.
