Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, made another written prediction about the Gujarat Assembly election results today in Surat, claiming his party will win seven to eight seats in ‘diamond city’ Surat and form the government. He had earlier said that Congress would get fewer than five seats. He stated again on Sunday that his party, which did not win any seats in the state’s previous assembly elections, will win more than 92 seats this time. He wrote his prediction on paper and showed it to members of the media.
Kejriwal said that AAP will get seven to eight seats in Surat. Gopal Italia, who is the party’s Gujarat chief, will win by a considerable margin. He said that his Chief Ministerial candidate, Isudan Gadhvi, and former Patidar quota leader, Alpesh Kathiriya, will also win.
However, he promised to “free” traders from the “atmosphere of fear and intimidation” in the state and appealed to the women and youth of Gujarat to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party.
Arvind Kejriwal also said no private schools would be allowed to increase their fees. Meanwhile, he also said that “we’ll ensure free and quality medical treatment,” he said, adding that only AAP can free the state of unemployment.
However, he also said, “Those who leaked (government exam) papers will get 10 years in jail,” and announced a 3,000 allowance for the unemployed till they get a job.
“We are providing a time-bound solution to deal with inflation, and these people (BJP) are abusing Arvind Kejriwal,” he said.
“There is no competition between AAP and BJP,” Mr.Kejriwal asserted.
He previously claimed that people are so afraid of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that they are hesitant to openly admit their support for the AAP and that the BJP is “agitated” by the AAP’s rise while the Congress is “nowhere” in the polls.
Surat, which has 12 MLAs in the state’s 182-member Assembly, will vote in the first phase on December 1.
Surat has traditionally leaned towards the ruling BJP, with textile and diamond merchants, as well as thousands of people associated with the business hub, supporting the party.
The AAP has fielded former Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leaders Alpesh Kathiriya and Dharmik Malaviya from Varaccha Road and Olpad, respectively.
Isudan Gadhvi will run from the Khambhalia Assembly constituency, which is part of the Devbhoomi Dwarka district and falls within the Jamnagar Lok Sabha constituency.
The second round of voting will take place on December 5, with results being announced on December 8.\
