As many as 10,000 doctors from Gujarat have decided to call off their strike after assurances from the state health officials, the Gujarat Government Doctors Forum (GGDF) members said. The strike was to begin from Thursday.
The doctors have been planning to go on strike as their demands of salary cut, among others, have been pending resolution for two years. This was the third time in the last two years the doctors had called off their call for strike following closed door assurances from the health minister and other officials.
As per news reports , the Gujarat government has decided to constitute a three-member committee headed by state health minister Rushikesh Patel. The committee will also have finance minister Kanubhai Desai and road, building and transport minister Purnesh Modi,
The GGDF members said they were confident this time that the state government will resolve their issues, considering the Covid cases are surging in the state and the health infrastructure needs to be at its maximum capacity to deal with any potential surge.
