A 63-year-old Swedish national was detained on accusations of molesting a flight crew, a Mumbai police official said on Saturday.
According to the Sahar police station official, accused Klas Erik Harald Jonas Westberg was allegedly in an inebriated condition when the incident occurred on board IndiGo flight 6E-1052 from Bangkok to Mumbai on Thursday.
He is accused of assaulting a fellow passenger who intervened and touching a crew member inappropriately while ordering in-flight food, the official added.
Westberg was turned over to Mumbai police after the flight touched down in the city and was later charged with molestation under Indian Penal Code section 354 and other Aircraft Act provisions, according to the police official.
The Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court released him on bail on Friday, the official continued. Westberg is the eighth airline passenger to have been detained in India during the previous three months due to alleged disorderly conduct.
During a Dubai-Mumbai IndiGo flight on March 23, two men were detained for drinking alcohol and verbally abusing other passengers and the crew, the official stated.
