In yet another gory instance of rape from Hyderabad, news is trickling in about the horrific assault of a minor. The victim was found abandoned near her house on Friday. She was missing since Thursday. The two accused, a cab driver and his friend, were arrested Sunday. Investigation is still on and the culprits have also been booked under the POCSO Act.
Meanwhile the high-profile rape case which has shocked the nation has triggered a political battle. The accused boys are all from politically influential families. One of them, son of an AIMIM MLA, is already in police custody.
A 17-year-old girl, who went to a club for a party, was allegedly gang-raped by five people inside a car on Saturday, May 28. Initially, it was claimed that the crime took place inside a red Mercedes, belonging to an MLA. However, the police said that the crime took place in another vehicle, an Innova.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Raghunandan Rao alleged that the police acted hastily and gave clean chit to All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA’s son after KTR’s tweet.
He said that if not a CBI probe then an investigation under a sitting judge should be ordered for a free and fair enquiry in the case and to ensure justice to the survivor.
The Telangana governor has requested a detailed report on the incident in two days. On the other hand, Telangana Congress in-charge and MP, Manickam Tagore, took to Twitter, to condemn BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao for releasing a video with images of the victim and the minor accused in the Hyderabad gang rape case.
