The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has unveiled its annual budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, amounting to over 641 crores. This announcement comes amidst the presentation of interim budgets by the Modi government at both the national and state levels. The AMTS budget comprises a revenue budget of 635 crores and a capital budget of 6.5 crores. Plans are underway to introduce seven electric double-decker buses in the first phase on high-revenue routes. The total number of AMTS buses on the road will increase to 1020, up from the current 1052.
In other news, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken action against Ward Inspector Sunil Rana of the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Municipality, following the discovery of disproportionate assets amounting to 2.75 crores. The investigation revealed that Rana’s property was 306 percent more than his official income. Some of these assets, including a flat in the Vaishnodevi area and 503 luxurious flats in Block C in Jasmin Green-1, were found to be registered in the names of his wife and children.
Imran Khedawala, MLA of the Jamalpur Khadia Legislative Assembly, has made a significant statement regarding the issue of corrupt officials. He has submitted a petition to the government calling for an investigation into corruption allegations against 50 class 1 and 2 officers across Gujarat. Khedawala expressed his intention to introduce a bill in the next assembly session, despite the government’s reluctance to allow investigations against IAS, IPS, and GAS level officers.
