Glam biz can take you places in a short time. Hard work and contacts of course are a stepping stone but what really matters is holding on to the top spot.
While good-looks, a perfect figure, loads of confidence and the oomph factor are a must, the uncompromisable check-list needs perseverance, hours at the gym, a willingness to experiment with looks and long hours beyond regular parameters. If having people buzz around you to carry out wishes is your idea of being in the modelling industry, please reconsider the option.
If you are ready for hard work and even more hard work, keep reading. Vibes Of India talks to top notch Amdavadi models to note their take on the industry:
LIZA DUDHIYA
Patience is the cornerstone. You have to be patient till you make a name. Also, be ready for rejections and politicking. This industry might appear to be a cakewalk. The truth is far removed from this notion. My must-haves list also includes confidence and a strong belief in your own brand value. Let people discourage you or ask you to sign up for projects that appear outlandish. You must stick on not matter what because there is a shore on the other side of the rough sea.
KHUSBU JANI
Discipline and confidence. Your Glam have to be loaded with both. Big brands will not tolerate any slip on these two factors. Photographers, make-up artistes and technicians value time. Aspiring models must be punctual, if not before time. NEVER BEYOND THE ASSIGNED TIME. The camera snaps reality. If you feel good about yourself, no matter your shape and size, you must ooze confidence.
RHYTHM SONI
Social media presence and constant updates are a driving force in this world. Constructive feedback must be taken in stride. If someone passes a remark about physical appearance, aspiring newbies must be ready to work on their look and gait. I take criticism positively and it has helped. Often, I have been side-lined because my physical profile does not match with the shoot requirement. But even more often, brands looking for a realistic body or a practical everyday face-next-door, I have been the preferred choice.
DIVYANI SINGH
It has been four years in the Glam biz. There have been ups and downs and I have learnt how to deal with the tide. My prescriptive to models is be ready to reinvent yourself with the changing needs of time, do not fall to unhealthy competition, be ready to gym out each day and give up all your traditional delicacies! Above all, celebrate yourself as you are because each person is unique.

Modelling is a serious profession. You have to put in a lot of extra hours. Expectations must be real and so must be the time targeted to achieve the goal. Begin either as a freelance model or join any agency. The first needs a lot of individual contacts while the second, makes it easier to break ground. However, be careful about the agency you sign up with. Scamsters are known to charge money to sign contracts. Always read the terms and conditions of the project/agency you sign up with.
