PM NaMo is back in Amdavad today to inaugurate the centenary celebrations of Pramukh Swami Maharaj. The month-long event will last from Dec 15 to Jan 15 at Swami Nagar, being put together since a year. The veritable town built on Ahmedabad’s Ring Road spans 600 acres. The ceremony at 5:30 pm will also be attended by CM Bhupendra Patel and Governor Acharya Devvrat.
The festival will commemorate Swami Maharaj, a prominent saint of the Bhagwan Swaminarayan sect. Nearly 80,000 volunteers are expected to look after the arrangements of the grand event. Organised by BAPS (Bochasanvasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha), a huge NRI is also expected during the festivities.
About 60 lakh people are expected to participate in the Pramukh Swami Shatabdi Mahotsav. Believers of the Swaminarayan sect from all over the world have already started to trickle in. Added, VIPs from 21 countries have consented to participate in the Centenary Festival.
Pramukh Swami Maharaj was a guide and guru who inspired the lives of countless people in India and around the world. He was widely respected and appreciated as a great spiritual leader. His life was devoted to spirituality and service to humanity. As the apex figurehead of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, he inspired countless cultural, social and spiritual initiatives, providing welfare and care to millions of people.
This being the birth centenary year of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir at Shahibaug, the global headquarters of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, has been decked up to usher in the celebrations. The month-long itinerary has daily events such as thematic exhibitions and thought-provoking discussions.

Based on the teachings of the Vedas and founded on the pillars of practical spirituality, BAPS reaches far and wide to address today’s spiritual, ethical and social challenges.
