The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is in the process of announcing a new policy to curb advertisements on traffic police chowkis, traffic police cabins, and traffic booths. Now, advertisements will only be allowed on traffic booths at major junctions. The draft policy will be tabled in the standing committee’s weekly meeting for approval.
Only one traffic booth will be allowed to have advertisements on every junction for which the agencies will have to pay annual licence charges. The advertisement board size will be 4X4 feet. The licence fees will vary by zone. The civic body has divided the city into seven zones.
Agencies will be charged Rs 60,000 annually per booth in the north zone, Rs 94,000 in the south zone, Rs 61,000 in the east zone, Rs 1.35 lakh in the west zone, Rs 71,000 in the central zone, Rs 2.01 lakh in the north-west zone, and Rs 2.19 lakh in the south-west zone. The agencies which will be given licences will have to take a no-objection certificate from the police department.
