Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken up the huge task of equipping the city with charging stations for electric vehicles. The civic body is aims to have 300 stations as per the budget for 2022-23. It will kick-off this task with around 25 to 30 stations.
The civic body will adopt the public-private partnership (PPP) model and so is soon expected to invite private players to set up electric vehicle charging stations. According to sources, the AMC is already preparing the contract document as well as revenue sharing model. Guidelines regarding land cabling, transmission infrastructure, and equipment will also be detailed in the document.
The AMC will provide land, while the equipment and employees will be from the investor. The civic body is likely to provide land with special provisions like asking a token rate of Re1 per square per month.
The location of EV charging stations will be displayed on AMC’s GIS map and the list will be uploaded on the AMC website or app and updated.
