AMC Invites Bids to Set up New Bio-CNG plant

| Updated: May 9, 2022 18:51

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has invited bids for its plan to set up a new Bio-CNG plant in the city. The up-coming plant is expected to have a per-day capacity of 300 tons.

Cow dung will be the key ingredient along with other green and organic waste in the area for opoerating the plant. The Bio-gas plant will follow the guidelines for zero-landfill models.

Further details regarding the plant or the likely bidders are still unavailable. However, it is believed that this plant will be set up under a public-private partnership, just like the one established in Indore.

This plant is smaller than that in Indore, which has the capacity of 550 tons per day. The plant has been set up by the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) in partnership with Indo Enviro Integrated Solutions Limited (IEISL) and streches across 15 acres of ground in Devguradia.

Indore plant was inauguarated in Februaray this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

During the ceremony Modi had revealed that the central governmnet is working on getting nearly 1,600 municipalities equipped with material management facilities to end single use of plastic. “If cities are clean, people from other places will visit them. A boost to tourism will kickstart a new economy,” he added.

The Ahmedabad plant might be part of this initiative by the government.
