In celebration of Amazon’s Alexa reaching a 5-year milestone in India, Amazon has added new male voice options for Alexa’s responses. Users in India can now choose between the old voice and a new male voice. Moreover, Alexa can now converse in both English and Hindi.
Dilip R S, Amazon’s country manager for Alexa, revealed in a statement, “Over the past five years, our aim has been to build Alexa from India and for India, and I truly believe that our journey is synonymous with the evolution of ambient computing in the country. As we look ahead, our focus remains on bringing to life newer voice, touch, motion, and vison-enabled experiences for consuming entertainment, completing tasks, and accessing information.”
Indian users have expressed delight over Alexa’s dual voice. Here’s how to change Alexa’s voice if you have an Alexa device at home and are having trouble doing so:
Users can alter Alexa’s voice simply by telling the echo device, “Alexa, change your voice,” according to the company. Alternatively, you can choose a different voice in the Alexa app by going to the device’s settings and selecting it.
In a very short time, Alexa has become quite well-liked in India. The business disclosed last year that while users streamed their favourite songs through various platforms like Amazon Prime Music, Spotify, Jio Savan, and Apple Music, requests for music from Alexa increased by 53%.
The demand for home appliance control has greatly expanded as people seek more comfort.
The business added that consumers’ pleasure of interacting with Alexa was seen in their frequent usage of phrases like “Alexa, how are you” (asked 31,680 times per day) and “Alexa, I love you” (asked 21,600 times per day).
