Cancer is one of the leading causes of death around the world. World Health Organization, WHO’s reports reveal that almost 20 million people were diagnosed with cancer in 2021, and 10 million were deceased due to the disease. As of now, the leading e-commerce giant, Amazon has been reported to have been in the process of developing a cancer vaccination in collaboration with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Recent report says that Amazon is set to develop vaccines to prevent breast and skin cancer.
According to a summary posted on Clinicaltrials.gov, a registry of clinical trials maintained by the US government, the research began on June 9 and is predicted to be done by November 1, 2023. Right now, the phase 1 stage trial is seeking 20 patients above 18 years for its drug testing. An anonymous Amazon representative has confirmed the study. Moreover, sources revealed that Amazon was providing scientific and machine learning expertise, in a partnership with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center to curate a personalized treatment for particular forms of Cancer.
The anonymous Amazon spokesperson further shared that it was too early to say as of now, but Fred Hutch had received a nod from the U.S Food and Drug Administration to move ahead with Phase 1 Clinical trial, though it is uncertain whether it will be successful or not.
The colossal corporation entered the healthcare sector by launching its product Amazon Care in June 2021. Experts feel if Amazon is victorious in its endeavor to achieve results in Cancer vaccines, it will see amazing financial benefits.
