Alibaba founder Jack Ma has travelled back to China and visited a school he founded in the city of Hangzhou, according to sources cited by the South China Morning Post on Monday.
According to the report, Jack Ma, who is also the founder of Ant Group, spoke with the school about education and ChatGPT technology. The South China Morning Post is owned by Alibaba.
Following the news, Alibaba’s shares increased by more than 4%. According to the source, the former teacher turned billionaire businessman made a brief stop in Hong Kong where he met friends and even had a quick trip to Art Basel before returning to China.
In a recent change intended to put an end to a broader regulatory crackdown, Jack Ma just gave over ownership of Ant Group, a major fintech company in China.
