India’s first portable solar rooftop system was unveiled in Gandhinagar’s Swaminarayan Akshardham temple complex on Monday. The German development agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) completed the construction of this 10 PV Port systems. The devices were installed as part of a project launched by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to build renewable energy towns across India. The PV Port systems, designed by GIZ, are bask plug-and-play photovoltaic systems with or without battery storage and have a minimum capacity of 2 kwp.
Under the Make in India project, the PV Ports were made by Servo tech Power Systems Limited (552), a major manufacturer of high-end end solar goods, LEDs, oxygen concentrators and EV charging equipment. Servotech Power Systems has previously built more than 30 PV Port systems in Gandhinagar, including those in Pandit Deendayal Energy University, GSPC Bhavan, Indroda Park, NIFT, Arya Bhavan, and other locations.
The PV Port system is extremely cost-effective, requires attie maintenance, has a long shelf ide of 25-30 years, is simple to install by one person, and is well suited to the Indian climate. Each system saves an average of Rs. 24,000 per year on electricity expenditures. It is completely self-sufficient.
