Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has tested positive for COVID-19 for the third time on Friday, following symptoms that emerged during the promotion of his latest film, Sarfira.
A few of the Sarfira promotional team members have also tested positive for the virus, along with Akshay. Akshay has already had three instances of COVID-19; he was hospitalised for the first time in April 2021 and again in May 2022.
After testing positive for COVID-19 in 2022, Akshay Kumar had to postpone his visit to the India Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival. “Was really looking forward to rooting for our cinema at the India Pavilion at #Cannes2022, but have sadly tested positive for COVID,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“Will rest it out. Loads of best wishes to you and your entire team, @ianuragthakur. Will really miss being there,” he further added.
Regarding work, Sarfira, Akshay’s latest film, released in theatres on Friday. His upcoming film is Khel Khel Mein. Originally slated for release in cinemas on September 6, the movie will instead open on August 15 (Independence Day). The announcement was posted on Taapsee Pannu’s X account.
She released a picture of the star-studded team, which included the director Mudassar Aziz, Fardeen Khan, Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Pragya Jaiswal, Aditya Seal, and herself. “This Independence Day, step into a mad world of laughter, drama, & loads of fun!” the actress captioned the picture. Mark your calendars for August 15, 2024, when #KhelKhelMein hits the theatres.”
