One of the country’s biggest Share marker players, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala with a net worth touching Rs.40,000 crores will see his latest venture Akasa Airlines soon in action.
Low-cost Akasa Airlines will start its first commercial flight between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on the 7th of August as it has received the green signal from DGCA. Akasa Air received the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on July 7.
Akasa plans 28 weekly flights on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. It will also start operating on the Bengaluru-Kochi route from August 13. The company has procured two new 737 MAX aircraft and already received delivery of one. The second aircraft will be available by the end of this month.
Co-founder of Akasa Air and Chief commercial officer Praveen Iyer said that the company intends to two planes every month to the fleet in the first year.
Earlier, the first look of its airline crew uniform, putting comfort first was unveiled where the comfy sneakers and shoes grabbed the attention of everyone. The new uniform is termed classy and comfortable in soft colour combos including black, white and blue for pilots, and orange and black for the cabin crew.
