Acclaimed director Mani Ratnam’s Madra Talkies is coming up with mega project ”Ponniyin Selvan Part 1′ with the director’s favourite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead.
“Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor!”, the poster that released the first look of the leading lady said with the caption “Vengeance has a beautiful face!”
The immortal “Nandini” of Sanjay Leela Bhnasali blockbuster ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ will get to play a character of the same name after 23 years in the new epic to be made by Madras talkies. Aishwarya, like the fine wine as the adage goes, looks more gorgeous, more stunning and more gorgeous, retaining the grandeur and gait inherent in her personality.
Mani Ratnam has earlier directed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in critically acclaimed films like Guru, Iruvar and Raavan.
Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 will be released worldwide on September 30, 2022 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. it is based on Kalki’s eponymous Tamil novel about a fictional power struggle set in 10th century Chola empire before Ponniyin Selvan (son of River Kaveri), later known as Rajaraja Chola became one of the greatest emperors in Indian history.
Apart from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram, Prakash Raj, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prabhu, Parthiban, and Sarath Kumar form the star cast of the magnum opus.
Even bigger names like AR Rahman as music director and Ravi Varman as cinematographer are associated with the project. Thota Tharrani as Production Designer and Sreekar Prasad as Editor will be assisting the director Mani Ratnam.
