India’s telecom giant Airtel faced a major outage on the morning of September 26, leaving thousands of users grappling with connectivity issues. The disruption, which impacted mobile internet, signal reception and overall connectivity, caused widespread frustration among customers nationwide.
More than 3,000 reports of problems were recorded, according to Downdetector, an application that tracks outages. Of the complaints, 23% of customers had trouble getting any mobile signal, 30% had a complete blackout, and 47% of consumers had issues with mobile internet.
According to users on X (formerly Twitter), the outage seems to have had a major impact on customers in Gujarat.
Social media users expressed their discontent with the sudden disruption, which resulted in several complaints. Many demanded that Airtel clarify the situation and take immediate action.
Airtel has not yet issued a formal statement outlining the reason for the outage or estimating when it would be fixed. Customers’ dissatisfaction has only increased as a result of the silence; many are calling for openness and speedier service restoration.
