Gujarat Police’s Cyber Crime Unit arrested the Chief Spokesperson of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Gujarat, Danish Qureshi on Wednesday. Qureshi was arrested after he made derogatory remarks against Hindu deities.
JM Yadav, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime, told the media that his team traced a tweet posted by AIMIM leader Danish Qureshi. The content of the tweet has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. After this, the technical team started tracing him. He was tracked down in the Shahpur area of the city and then arrested.
Separate complaints have been registered against Qureshi at Naroda and Paldi police stations. Condemning the post made by Qureshi, many religious leaders and organisations have demanded strict action against the AIMIM leader.
Danish had questioned the Shivling found in Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in his tweet. He made a derogatory remark about this after which the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Team has taken action.
