A 10-acre entertainment zone will come up on the east side of the Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad.
Inspired by Canada’s famed Wonderland Amusement Park, Ontario, with this new attraction the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) aims to capitalise on the riverfront’s growing popularity.
The new attraction will be positioned at the East End of the Atal Bridge, between Ellis Bridge and Sardar Bridge.
It will have numerous high-end and glitzy offerings, including roller coasters, an IMAX experience, simulator rides, adventure zones, VR games, a kids’ area, arcade video games, a snow park, a soft play area, amusement rides, and a spectacular fountain show. The highlight will be a large Ferris wheel, standing tall at 66 metres. The rides and attractions promise to be on par with the finest globally.
In a move to ensure world-class standards, AMC has opened the project to global competition. It has invited tenders from local and international companies, aiming to lease the 10-acre land for 30 years at Rs 75 crore.
AMC anticipates an annual income of Rs 45 lakh in rent, plus a 5% revenue share.
Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner M Thennarasan said, “It’s a dream project for the city. The Sabarmati River Front is already a major draw. This Entertainment Zone will only further our goal of making Ahmedabad a world-class city.”
Thennarasan emphasised that visitor safety and security were paramount, especially given the zone’s riverside location. The entire area would be enclosed, a necessary measure in a city that experiences extreme summer temperatures of 45-50 degrees Celsius.
The project also includes plans for ample parking facilities to avoid any parking issues, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors.
