The Atal Bridge, an architectural marvel inspired by kites and inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in August 2022, continues to attract a growing number of tourists to Ahmedabad. This foot over bridge, spanning the Sabarmati River and connecting the city’s eastern and western parts, has become a hotspot for visitors.
With its unique design and strategic location between Sardar Bridge and Ellis Bridge, the Atal Bridge has generated significant revenue for the Ahmedabad Corporation. Since its opening, the bridge has welcomed millions of visitors, contributing substantially to the city’s economy.
Recently, a special offer introduced by the Sabarmati Riverfront, allowing visitors access to both the Atal Bridge and nearby Flower Park for a nominal fee, has further boosted the Corporation’s earnings. In January 2024 alone, over 6,900 people visited the Atal Foot Overbridge, generating revenue of Rs 1.26 lakh under this scheme.
The popularity of the Atal Bridge shows no signs of waning, with millions of adults and children having crossed its pathways. This influx of visitors has resulted in a substantial income of over Rs 9.49 crore. When combined with visits to the Flower Park, the total revenue generated amounts to an impressive Rs 13.44 crore.
Aside from its economic impact, the Atal Bridge stands as a symbol of progress and development for Ahmedabad. Designed with various amenities such as foot kiosks, seating areas, and dynamic LED lighting, the bridge offers a unique experience for visitors while enhancing the city’s riverfront landscape.
