The state government has given preliminary nod for the allocation of Rs. 185.12 crore for building two fly overs in the city. One of the flyovers will be at Panjarapol Junction, which will be 652 meters long and 17 meters wide. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 86.94 crore. The other flyover will be at Panchavati Junction, which will be 779.19 meters long and 17 meters wide. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 98.18 crore.
These flyovers are part of the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, under which 20 flyovers are planned for Ahmedabad out of the total 75 for the state. The state government has already sanctioned Rs. 612.86 crores for seven flyovers in Ahmedabad. The Urban Development Department recently presented a proposal to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel regarding the construction of these two new flyovers in Ahmedabad, submitted by the Municipal Corporation.
The state government has given provisional approval for Rs. 185.12 crores out of the allocations made for the year 2023-24. The Urban Development Department has been allocated a total budget of Rs. 21,696 crores in this year’s budget for improving urban planning and management, and enhancing basic infrastructure facilities such as roads, bridges, water supply systems, and drainage, as well as healthcare and transportation in the aspirational cities. The Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, which is aimed at the comprehensive development of cities, has been extended for another three years, till 2026-27, to ensure sustained progress and continuity in urban development initiatives.
