Come June and Ahmedabad is all set for 12 new domestic flights. Direct flights will now be available to Kochi, Jaipur, Dehradun, Mumbai and Goa. For Ahmedabad airport, this will take the daily number up to 170 domestic flights. The increased passenger footfall is estimated to touch 22,000.
Summer being vacation season, the flight on most sectors have reported full occupancy. Added, the city still does not have direct flights to many metros in the country. While a direct flight to Varanasi started last week, among the new line-up are Go First flights to Kochi, Jaipur, Goa and Hyderabad.
Go Air is expected to fly to six new routes while Indigo will fly to Jodhpur four days a week. In addition, Indigo will also map daily destinations to Chandigarh and Dehradun. From June 3, it will fly to Kolhapur, three days a week.
Of the three new flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, two have already been launched from May 15. The third takes off from June 1. Star Air will fly direct between Ahmedabad and Bhuj, five days a week, from June 3.
