Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday addressed a public gathering at Naranpura. He expressed how BJP has changed the Ahmedabad city of ‘Begum or Badshah’ to ‘Karnavati’. He alleged that the Congress governments made this state, an unsafe place to live through the communal riots and smuggling of weapons for terrorist acts from across the border.
“BJP sealed the borders, sent smugglers to jail and forced them to leave Gujarat; thus, saving the entire western India from terrorism. Congress governments made Gujarat unsafe through communal riots and smuggling for arms for terrorist activities through porous borders,” Shah said. He accused the Congress party of intentionally delaying the Sardar Sarovar project considering the dam was named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Whilst conversing on how the BJP has successfully maintained law and order, he cited how the Jagannath Rath Yatra had to halt due to the communal riots in Ahmedabad. He also said that there is not a single police station in Gujarat which has not worked daily in the past 20 years.
Mentioning the Sabarmati Riverfront, Shah referred to the Congress leaders saying that the riverbanks of Sabarmati will become the industrialists’ hub. “Today, the riverfront has become the centre of activity in the city,” he prompted. He reiterated the ‘Olympics Mission’ mentioned in BJP’s manifesto.
Previously, Shah blamed Congress for the intentional delay of Sardar Sarovar Dam in an election campaign for BJP candidate Ketan Inamdar at the Savli assembly seat in Vadodara. Shah called former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh “mauni Baba” and attributed Pakistan’s ongoing attacks on Indian soldiers to the Congress’s “vote bank politics.”
Shah claimed that from 2008 to 2014, the UPA government did nothing when “the Pakistanis would come and chop the heads of our soldiers” because of “vote bank politics”. “When Narendra Modi was elected as prime minister in 2014, Pakistan failed to recognise the significance of the BJP’s election victory. Within ten days after Pakistan attacked Pulwama and killed our soldiers, Narendrabhai gave the Army and Airforce orders to punish them. He has conveyed the message that anyone who trifles with India’s borders and military would be made to pay a price.
