With an aim of hosting the Olympics 2036 in Ahmedabad, the state government has planned an ambitious project to the tune of Rs 4,118 crore to establish and create world-class sports facilities in and around Ahmedabad. In a recent development, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) had planned to develop an Olympics village and training facilities in the Manipur-Godhavi area near Bopal.
At an initial level, the government and the development authority had planned to develop the Olympics village in the periphery of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera with the facilities including apartments for the Olympics’ participants. However, acquiring plots and land near the stadium was taking a long for the negotiations with the owners and this is why the government and AUDA decided to shift a major part of the Olympics’ games village to the Manipur-Godhavi area, according to the sources.
According to the sources, the development authority is set to acquire 400 ha of land in the area of Bopal under the town planning norms from different TP schemes.
