More than 3000 properties in Ahmedabad city were sealed by the Corporation officials, in a concentrated drive to recover property tax dues. In an obvious effort to stop the revenue leakage, the civic body is in action mode sealed 3441 properties across various zones within the Corporation limits.
Some of the properties sealed were Dev Atelier complex in Prahladnagar, Sun Gravitas complex in Vejalpur, Amul Estate in Sanand, Paramvir Apartments in Vejalpur, and West Gate building and Gala Hub complex on SG Highway. The action is seen as a stern warning to the defaulting owners of the properties.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), in a statement said that out of 3441 properties, 546 properties were sealed in the North West zone, 460 in South West zone, 415 in South zone, 403 in Central, and 341 properties in the North zone. The most number of properties sealed, 896, were in the Eastern Zone.
Taking a serious note of the non-payment of taxes which hampers the development works to be undertaken for the city, the Municipal Corporation said that further default in payment of pending property tax will result in disconnection of water and power connections. Sterner actions like seizure and auction of the properties are also envisaged, if need be.
