The major road leading to the Ahmedabad railway station in the Kalupur area has been closed for a duration of three years, starting from 11 September 2024 to 10 September 2027.
In a notification issued by the city police commissioner, it stated that a 200-metre section of road from Sarangpur Circle to Kalupur railway station will have one side closed to traffic, while the opposite lane will be converted into a one-way route.
There are three proposed alternative routes:
1) Traffic from Sarangpur Circle to Kalupur railway station should proceed via Sindhi Bazar and Panchkuva, then take a right turn to reach the entry gate of Kalupur railway station. Traffic heading to Kalupur will follow this route and continue via Motimahal Hotel Road.
2) Traffic travelling from Kalupur to Sarangpur, Raypur, Kankariya and Gita Mandir should use the one-way lane on the Kalupur-Sarangpur road.
3) The old entry gate to Kalupur railway station will remain open for passengers. A footbridge and a new 30-foot road, currently being constructed by Dineshchandra R Agrawal Company as part of the Kalupur railway station redevelopment project, will facilitate passengers exiting on the western side.
