Another reason to laud Amadavad as a smart city, here comes an international standard badminton academy to get citizens into shape. A brainchild of ACP (cybercrime), Jitendra Yadav and Romit Arora, “Blackk & One Badminton Academy” boasts five courts and floodlights to enable play during evening hours too. This makes it the city’s largest private badminton institute.
Inaugurated by state home minister Harsh Sanghvi, who is also the minister for sports, present on the occasion was city police commissioner, Shri Sanjay Srivastava and
“I would like to thank Gujrat Cricket Association (GCA) members for supporting this initiative. We are constantly working towards improving facilities for sports. We welcome suggestions for upgrade of sports coaching and infra,” stated Mr Sanghvi.
The fit-as-a-fiddle minister also tried his hand at the game. He contested in a match with other officers.
The Academy will provide beginners and advanced coaching, replete with fitness training like physio sessions, functionality and movement screening. Individual attention is offered for promising players while a rigorous fitness regime will be open to all. The Academy also has an in-house physiotherapy center to help injured sportsmen.
