Bangkok attracts a large number of people from all over the world every year. It’s irresistible charm and stunning islands are drawing more travellers from Ahmedabad, turning it into the new favourite beach destination, rivalling Goa. Catering to this growing demand, Thai Lion Air is set to launch a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Bangkok. This addition will bring the total number of direct flights from Ahmedabad to Bangkok to five.
Currently, four other airlines operate daily or four-days-a-week flights on this popular route, all flying at full capacity every week. The number of flights from Ahmedabad to Bangkok now matches the direct connectivity to Goa, which boasts five to six daily flights from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport. “With direct connectivity and affordable options, Bangkok is quickly becoming a top choice among young travellers,” the source added. Travel experts note that frequent Goa visitors are now exploring Bangkok as an exciting alternative with a similar budget.
Virendra Shah, chairman of the Travel Agents’ Association of India (TAAI) – Gujarat chapter, said, “Goa has become an extremely common destination among travellers from Gujarat. Bangkok and the nearby islands are becoming preferred alternatives. With affordable, direct flights and visa on arrival available, many people choose Bangkok. Additionally, company sales teams are often rewarded with trips to Bangkok for surpassing their annual targets.”
Booking a return flight a month in advance costs about Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 per person.
In addition to the Bangkok flights, SVPI airport will also see a new direct flight to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia by the end of this month.
