A fire broke out at Biotech Industries located in Kathwada GIDC in the eastern part of the city, causing concern among residents and businesses in the area. The fire originated in a warehouse storing magnesium, which is used in the manufacturing of Kangan water machine refills. The incident prompted a swift response from the authorities, with over 18 fire tenders rushing to the scene to tackle the blaze.
The fire brigade was alerted to the situation at 4:30 am when a distress call reported the fire at Biotech Industries on Road No. 5 in Kathwada GIDC. Key officials including the Chief Fire Officer, Additional Chief Fire Officer, and Divisional Fire Officer quickly arrived at the scene to coordinate the firefighting efforts. Thanks to their prompt actions and the collaborative work of the fire department, the fire was successfully extinguished within two hours.
The intensity of the fire at Biotech Industries was such that it spread to nearby Surabhi Steel Utensil Manufacturing Company, impacting their packaging materials. However, the fire brigade managed to contain this secondary fire as well. As a precautionary measure, approximately 40 individuals were evacuated from Gopal Industrial Park located behind the affected area to ensure their safety.
Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties resulting from the incident.
