The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has seized tons of weapons from the yearly traditional Rath Yatra. On Thursday, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested three people with six pistols, 526 cartridges, and a pistol. Like the Rath Yatra, seizing weapons has also become a yearly tradition for cops to catch weapons during the occasion. Further, the Crime Branch has registered different FIRs in the case and started an investigation.
Sajid Aka Lalo Aslam Niyajuddin Sheikh, the 34-year-old, hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Juhapura Moin Park. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch raided his house and caught 96 loose cartridges. The initial interrogation revealed that the accused has a criminal record in murder, incitement, and owning illegal weapons. He ordered the illicit weapons from his comrades Farid Dilawar Ajmeri (Pinjara) and Haider Pathan, residents of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Four months ago, Idris, a resident of Sarkhej, gave the arms to Arif of Vejalpur. The accused, Sajid, met them in Rajkot while he was in central Jail.
After receiving this information, the police caught the two with a pistol and around ten cartridges. The total cost of the items seized was ₹2.23 lakhs. In 2011, the cops arrested Sajid for the murder of an RTI activist in Vejalpur. Three years ago, he went in for the case of incitement, and in 2019, the Special Operations Group seized a pistol from him. In 2021, the Crime Branch caught him with three fee pistols and 23 cartridges. Another accused, Mehboob Aka Arif, has a criminal record in five cases of intimidation and three cases of murder.
Probe To Be Continued
In another case, the police caught Shailesh Vitthalbhai Parmar, a resident of Gota, near the Vishal Circle. The cops have seized native tobacco from him. In both cases, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch is continuing further probe.
