Ahmedabad Crime Branch Resolves Attempted Murder Case, Suspect Found Dead

| Updated: November 20, 2024 19:56

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch resolved a case of attempted murder registered at the Sarkhej Police Station, where the victim was brutally attacked during an attempted robbery. Investigations revealed that the accused, who had absconded while on parole from Sabarmati Jail, died in August this year.

The case was registered on March 19, 2024, involving Yasin Khan allegedly assaulting the victim Adil Sheikh near Bajaj Steel, opposite Shankarpura Chhapra in Sarkhej. The complaint was subsequently lodged by his brother.

The investigation revealed that the suspect died on August 5, 2024, in Kutch. Crime Branch investigated the photo of the suspect and the modus operandi of the accused and found that the accused was Yasin Khan alias Sando alias Labu Ibrahim Khan Pathan. While investigating the accused, the accused was serving a sentence as a convicted prisoner in Ahmedabad Sabarmati Central Jail for murder and robbery under Section 302, 392 of the IPC. He was released on parole from February 12, 2024 to February 23, 2024.

On March 19, 2024, during an attempted robbery outside Bajaj Steel Company, he attacked Adil Sheikh. Fortunately, Sheikh survived the attack after receiving timely medical treatment.

The police got a breakthrough when they received a piece of information that Yasin was at his brother’s home in Gandhidham, Kutch. Upon questioning his brother, Mehboob Ibrahim Khan Pathan, it emerged that Yasin had died on August 5, 2024, after falling from a bridge while intoxicated. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch verified the death through official records, obtaining a death certificate to confirm the claim.

Further investigation revealed Yasin Khan’s history as a habitual offender. He had been implicated in multiple murder cases, including the killing of his girlfriend over suspicion and discarding her body in a river. In another incident, he strangled a man to death over a mere Rs 300. Yasin was also known to exploit isolated areas to carry out violent robberies, often targeting unsuspecting individuals.

With the confirmation of the suspect’s death and thorough investigation, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has officially closed the case.
