The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match T20 series against India. Ibrahim Zadran has been named captain for the series, after he produced a stellar performance in the recent T20 series against the United Arab Emirates. He scored 309 runs in five matches, including two centuries and one half-century.
Regular T20 captain Rashid Khan has also been included in the squad, but his participation in any of the matches is not yet certain. He recently underwent back surgery and is still recovering.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman has also returned to the squad after being left out of the recent T20 series against the UAE. Rahman is Afghanistan’s most successful spin bowler.
Ikram Alikhil has been included as a backup wicket-keeper batsman. He also had a good performance in the recent T20 series against the UAE, scoring 250 runs in five matches, including one century and one half-century.
