While the weather in Gujarat remains conducive for air travel, adverse conditions in North and East India are causing disruptions. Flights from Ahmedabad to Patna, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Darbhanga, and Varanasi may experience delays. Incoming flights from these cities to Ahmedabad could also be affected.
Adding to the travel woes, ongoing farmers’ protests in Delhi have been causing significant delays. Today’s rural India shutdown is expected to lead to further protests in Chandigarh and Amritsar, potentially causing traffic jams en route to the airports. Advisories have been issued to pilots, cabin crew, and passengers in light of these disruptions.
On February 15, many flights from Delhi to Ahmedabad were delayed by 1 to 2 hours due to the protests. Adverse weather conditions today caused the SpiceJet flight from Ahmedabad to Ayodhya, scheduled for 5:55 am, to take off at 7:12 am. Various airlines’ flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai also experienced delays of up to an hour. Over the past few days, a total of 72 flights from Ahmedabad to various cities in India and abroad were delayed, with the majority being to Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Lucknow, Pune, and Ranchi.
As of 11 am today, a total of 8 flights arriving in Ahmedabad from various cities in India and abroad were delayed. These included flights from Jaipur, Lucknow, Chennai, Mumbai, and Pune. In international flights, flights from Dubai and Sharjah were delayed. Furthermore, a total of 19 flights departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad were delayed throughout the day. Due to adverse weather conditions in Patna, Ranchi, and Bhubaneswar, flights may take off later than their scheduled time.
