Ahmedabad airport inaugurated its first Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations on Tuesday. Adani Total Gas has installed the charging stations at the entrance and exit of the airport. The Adani Group, which took over the management of the airport in November 2020, has been introducing a series of changes aimed at improving the passenger experience and environment sustainability.
The EV charging station at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport has a dual gun system that aims at providing charging services to maximum vehicles. Chargers have different protocols. One is CCS2 (combined charging system) (60 KW) with a dual gun and the other is GBT (40 KW) dual gun. These chargers can efficiently charge four-wheelers to 80% in an hour. However, the speed of charging varies from vehicle to vehicle depending on its built and drawing power. The battery management system installed in the EV regulates the drawing power.
The Adani Group has previously taken several other measures for environmental sustainability, such as switching LED lights. The group is now actively backing the EV concept as well.
